Since the weather was rather warm, we soon retired for drinks to the French Café, where we began workshopping our pre-written haiku, surprised at how a topic as random as ‘chaos’ had produced such original work. Lunch had been booked at Burnt Orange, a charming café restaurant with a sweeping verandah, where we were suitably fanned by harbour breezes (but where our haiku had to be pinned down inside the sugar container). Burnt Orange boasts a great gift shop where a few of us flitted about later on a different sort of ginko, still focused on concrete images, but ones that had us drawing money from our wallets, rather than pen and paper from our pockets.
